Overview
The Council of Atlantic Ministers of Education and Training (CAMET) contracted with the Canadian Career Development Foundation to develop a framework containing competencies to help Atlantic Canadians navigate and propel learning, work, and transitions. The career development competencies presented in the Atlantic Competencies Framework https://atlanticcompetencies.ca/ are essential for success in life, work, and learning, and educators already cultivate these competencies naturally through classroom experiences. The Framework helps identify and name competencies, recognize student’s mastery, and assists in further strengthening their skills.
The 60-minute interactive webinar is designed to equip students and educators with the knowledge to navigate the High School Student Kit. Through interactive activities, demonstrations and discussions, participants will explore the 18 competencies that make up the kit. The webinar encourages active engagement and reflection, fostering an interactive learning experience for students. The webinar will bring students to directly participate in the high school kit, reflect, and set goals in myBlueprint.
This introductory student-focused webinar supports learners to use the high school student toolkit through the 18 Atlantic Competencies using the myBlueprint platform and dashboard. The 18 competencies are divided into 3 large categories: Thinking, Connecting, Managing. There is a cluster of competencies (6 competencies per heading) for a total of 18 competencies.
This resource includes Testimonials, a self-assessment, and then a dashboard to reflect, read, and set goals related to the 18 competencies.
This resource supports students to set SMART goals and create tasks for each and using digital portfolios to document their career journey. It supports learners to create a competency-based portfolio.
The resource includes:
- Teacher Guide: Navigating the Atlantic Competencies Framework
- Introductory Webinar (lesson plan for students),
- PowerPoint slides to accompany the webinar

In addition to resources to support K-12 Educators, the framework also includes supports for families, post-secondary students, employers, and work seekers.
