Overview
The Centre of Excellence is a partnership between the education system, community, and industry partners. Centres connect students to expert knowledge through virtual and experiential learning.
The provincial government works with employers to help students understand, and prepare for, employment opportunities in areas of strategic economic importance. The strategy is driven by a desire to encourage and enable students to stay in the province after graduation and to address skills shortages. Under the umbrella of Future New Brunswick, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) has created four Centres of Excellence focused on priority economic areas identified by the province: health, energy, digital learning and entrepreneurship.
There are four Centres of Excellence in New Brunswick:
Centre of Excellence for Energy: Increasing energy literacy, and highlighting career pathways in the energy sector.
Centre of Excellence for Health: Mental health literacy and career pathways in health and social care.
Centre of Excellence for Entrepreneurship: Increasing social/entrepreneurial skills and spirit and building financial literacy.
Centre of Excellence for Digital Innovation: Strengthening student digital literacy skills, promoting cybersecurity, and highlighting ICT career pathways.
