Financial Literacy Modules for Students

Overview

Although originally targeted towards Ontario secondary students, these self-guided learning modules offer all secondary students (9 – 12) the opportunity to strengthen their financial literacy in an interactive and engaging format. Consisting of 4 modules, accessible to each grade, students will work through a range of financial planning and literacy topics including: ‘Earning, Spending and Budgeting’, ‘Bank Accounts and Credit Cards’ and lastly, ‘Borrowing and Investing’.

Objectives

  • To educate youth on the important of financial literacy.
  • To educate and developed the skills necessary to effectively financially plan for a specific goal or outcome.
  • To prepare students for post-secondary life and contribute to a well-thought you and comprehensive career pathway transition plan.

Instructions

  • Assign specific modules, or have students complete them in their demonstrated order.
  • Provide opportunities after the activity for students to share and reflect on what they learned.
