Let’s Talk Science

Overview

Let’s Talk Science is a Canadian ready-to-use comprehensive bilingual suite of free curriculum-aligned resources and experiential learning opportunities from Early Years to Grade 12 programming focused on science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) / STEAM.

This organization provides many types of resources including hands on activities, interactive resources, hand-on activities, ebooks, videos, picture collections, real world problems/ question and projects.

The site contains a separate section of over 500 Career Profiles where learners can view profiles of people in traditional and non-traditional STEM-related careers, focusing on their career paths and motivations.  The site can be filtered by post-secondary pathway, industry sector, or school subject.  Within the Careers section, educators can view:

The resource includes professional learning and features a series of free online on-demand professional learning webinars that educators can access to learn more about a variety of STEM topics including computational thinking, inquiry-based learning, and design thinking.

Objectives

  • Assist educators develop a well-rounded approach to their career education practice.
  • Contribute to the active engagement of students planning their futures in STEM.
  • Provide a variety of learning options linked in a structure for learners to progress through three levels: Investing, Developing, and Innovating.

Instructions

Educators can search by filters of province/territory, grade level, course, and topic within the science or STEM/STEAM area. There is much to explore on this site and many ways it could be used to support career development depending on the goal and learning style of the educator and/or learner.

Educators can use the site to garner professional knowledge and expertise and access new ideas for their class environments. Learners can use the site to think, explore career options not only in New Brunswick, but throughout all of Canada. It is suggested to begin by filtering activities that are specific to New Brunswick, but then to expand the searches that may align more with personal goals and interests.
