New Brunswick Environmental Network

Overview

The New Brunswick Environmental Network (NBEN), established in 1991, is a bilingual communication network that links together over 110 non-profit environmental organizations. The NBEN provides educational opportunities for its member and associate groups and encourages the growth of the environmental movement in New Brunswick. The NBEN is governed by representatives chosen from each of the following groups: Youth, First Nations, Francophone and Anglophone.

The website includes a comprehensive collection of resources and programs for sustainability education including links to Green Economy New Brunswick.  Launched in spring 2021, Green Economy New Brunswick is a provincial Hub that brings together, supports, and celebrates local businesses in setting and achieving robust sustainability goals. The Hub provides a variety of tools and resources, peer learning events, 1:1 support, and public recognition to help businesses succeed in taking action on climate change while saving money, engaging their employees, and building their profile as Green Economy Leaders.

The organization provides a  Youth Environmental Action Network

Where youth who are interested in learning more about careers in environmental sustainability can connect with others who are also passionate about this growing career area. This arm of the organization provides ideas, resources, newsletters, and links to several other environmental organizations.

The Earth Ed resource is a valuable tool to assist teachers and other educators in locating New Brunswick-based guest speakers, field trips, and student mentors.
