A Transition Fair to support students with exceptionalities & their caregivers. The innovative fair will aim to explore opportunities for resources in mental health, academics, and social/emotional connections. It will also provide diverse and promising post-secondary opportunities through community partnerships.
Objectives
A Transition Fair is a celebration of diversity and recognition of the strengths that students with supports can fulfill in their post-secondary lives. It will provide a supportive platform for students to take confident steps towards successful and positive lifestyle choices. This will also educate employers about the immense potential within their community and build a difference in the of lives of these exceptional students and future of the workforce, mental health, and personal relationships.
Instructions
The resource teacher and Transition Coach can collaborate on the Transition Fair.
- The resource teacher provides insights into the specific needs and strengths of students with exceptionalities.
- The Transition Coach contributes their expertise in the transition process by providing resources (sharing ideas of who can attend the event).
- The resource teacher and Transition Coach share opportunities to reach out to sources that can present at the Transition Fair. The support and networking of Experiential Learning Coordinator was able to assist in more opportunities within the fair. All professionals were able to define clear objectives for the transition.

The Transition Fair is designed to support students with exceptionalities’ transition from one life stage to post-secondary. It will bring together educational institutions, employers, and various support services to provide information and resources on education, career opportunities and other aspects of life transitions. Attendees can learn about different career, educational and support programs available to help them in successful and positive transition processes. The implementation of the fair can impact young adults with disabilities and caregivers in moving to the next phase of life.
