Overview:
This is a workshop that can be facilitated by classroom educators and/or in collaboration with a Career Connected champion (i.e. School Counselor, Personal Wellness educator, etc). This workshop is a great starting point for middle school students as they explore, experience and think about career pathways.
Objectives:
- Students consider “Who Am I” and their interests
- Students explore career pathways and find some that reflect their interests
- Students begin to think about a vision for their future
Instructions:
- Use the Workshop Powerpoint Workshop Ridgeview Career Connected Portfolio + Occupations to facilitate the lesson (approximately one class period). Students will be going on myBlueprint and will need access to a device. Ideally, students have logged in to myBlueprint once before this lesson so that you do not have to spend a lot of time on this.
- Extend the learning by using the Vision_Board_Lesson_Plan__EN_ and the associated Vision_Board__EN_-_Slideshow_ to have students create a digital Vision Board portfolio. This can easily be done in myBlueprint. See lesson/ppt for steps to completing in a digital portfolio.
